Kings Walden’s new chef Billy McKechnie has created a delicious contemporary fusion menu that combines imported specialities and fresh, local organic produce.

By night you can take your pick from an excellent menu that includes dishes such as French rack of lamb, tagliata di manzo (an Italian sliced steak dish), slow-cooked lamb shanks, seared tuna and a range of decadent desserts. And of course, there is an exciting South African wine list.

McKechnie has years of experience as a restauranteur and chef. He trained at Centurion International Hotel School before moving onto becoming food and beverage manager at the well-known and much loved Lowveld hotel, Hippo Hollow.

McKechnie was owner /manager of Ciao! Italian Mediterranean Kitchen in Pretoria, and assistant general manager at the trendy Café Caprice in Camps Bay in Cape Town.

Before joining Kings Walden he was concession manager, general manager and chef at Jao Camp, a five star luxury camp in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. He has catered for numerous special occasions, bringing enthusiasm and passion to his work.

Billy’s charming wife Minette has a background in hospitality, sales & marketing, and communications. She brings to the mix a great enthusiasm for people and a commitment to looking after guests from start to finish.
